re: cis: Some info for you. Cis just means you identify with the gender label that was given to you at birth (and was probably based on your genitals). It's a value neutral word and it's very, very useful when discussing trans* oppression and cissexism and the like, because cis folks are the majority group and oppressive force and it's helpful having a label for that. Saying 'I don't wanna be called cis' when you're cis is like whining about being called white, when you're white. - Leon
I really don’t like to think about people based on their their gender or their race. I try to see people based off who they are as people. Thinking about it more, what I don’t like is the stereotyping of Cis, just as I don’t like the stereotyping Trans.
P.S. Thank you for the explanation, it help clear things up. =)
You may NOT refer to me as “cis”, because “cis” is anti-woman hate-speech.
Respect my boundaries.
Whenever I hear people say they don’t like the word cis and they want to be referred to as “woman” and “man” I say that you better be okay with trans women and trans men being referred to as just “woman” and “man”
I don’t think that “Cis’ is hate speech but, I don’t like the term “Cis” either, and that’s probably because I don’t fully understand it. I call people by what they wish to be called and I just feel like it should be the same the other way around. So, I guess that’s where my lack of understanding comes from.
